vocal coaching

sing out, louise

here is an example of why developing your voice is important, even if you are not a singer:

i am now offering both vocal coachings and voice lessons.

"huh? isn't that the same thing?"

vocal coaching covers stylistic and musical interpretation, diction, language, text, and working with an accompanist, as well as choosing repertoire and preparing for auditions.

voice lessons, on the other hand, primarily deal with healthy sound production (good breathing, free phonation, and sustaining tone).

"but don't these things affect each other?"

naturally, there is some overlap between the two areas (and in coachings, we do sometimes talk about healthy singing) but the focus is distinct. vocal coaching is for you if you want to improve your dramatic expression, get help with acting songs, become more aware of style, find repertoire that suits your voice and personality (what is known as "type")... in short, if you want to get more and better parts. to "sound better," you'll want to improve your technique.

and yes, of course we can do both in a lesson. glad you asked.

"how can I get in touch with you?"

send me an email (mhauck7 at gmail).

"anything else i should know?"

yes. memorize the four stages in a diva's development:

1. bel canto
2. can belto
3. can't belto
